Product Safety & Certification

Every toy sold by Bambelou is CE certified, meeting the safety requirements set out in the UK Toy Safety Regulations 2011 and the EU Toy Safety Directive (2009/48/EC).

What CE Certification Means

CE marking confirms that a toy has been assessed against recognised safety standards — including EN71 (the European toy safety standard covering mechanical/physical safety, flammability, and chemical safety). Before any product joins our range, we require our suppliers to provide:

  • A signed Declaration of Conformity (DoC)
  • Supporting test reports against relevant EN71 parts
  • Confirmation of correct age grading and any required warning labels

We keep this documentation on file for every product we sell.

Age Grading & Warnings

Age recommendations and any required safety warnings (such as choking hazard notices for small parts) are displayed on each product page and on the product packaging, in line with UK labelling requirements.

Materials

We prioritise non-toxic materials, including natural wood, BPA-free plastics, and child-safe fabrics, and check these meet relevant chemical safety requirements as part of the certification process above.
